My name is Lillian Shaw. I connected with Lay Marianists through a referral from Bianca Fujita three years ago since I have been a regular attendee and choir member of Mystical Rose Oratory. Our monthly meeting is always something I look forward to. Not only it is a great time of fellowship with my brothers and sisters, but also strengthens my belief in the Catholic church.

June 2nd’s readings consist of 2 possibilities: They are Act 1:17-23 and EPH 1:17-23. There is also an alternative reading from HEB 9:24-28 and 10:19-23. The verses that stand out for me are:
1. God give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation;
2. May the eye of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call; and
3. Let us hold unwaveringly to our confession that gives us hope, for he who made the promise is trustworthy.

Let us examine the first verse that stand out for me: God gives you a spirit of wisdom and revelation. Often time, we are limited to our knowledge and understanding. However, through God, we receive wisdom and revelation. We can trust what our eyes cannot see and use the wisdom God gives us and understand the revelation.

Secondly, “May the eye of your hearts be enlightened, that you may know what is the hope that belongs to his call.” In this verse, it mentioned the eye of our hearts. Now we are talking about seeing with our eyes of our hearts and not our physical two eyes that we have on our face. Through the enlightenment, we have hope for his calling.

Lastly, “Let us hold unwaveringly to our confession that give us hope, for he who made the promise is trustworthy. “ Through hope from our consistent of confession, we know that we can count on God’s promises.

In conclusion from this Sunday’s reading, we receive power, wisdom, hope, revelation, besides his promises. No matter what the world bring to our lives, our faith will not be shaken. We have the power from God to conquer the obstacles; we have wisdom from God to identify the goodness from evils; with revelation and hope, we wait for God’s return patiently. We hold on to his promises, one day, we will unite with God.
